Singapore Becomes the Gateway: Brazil’s Food Industry Expands Across Southeast Asia

The FHA – Food & Hospitality Asia 2026 fair in Singapore served as a platform through which Brazil's agribusiness sector established new business operations in Southeast Asia, which will generate US$ 57 million during the upcoming 12 months. The initiative, which Brazil's Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs organized, generated US$ 8.9 million in sales during the period from April 21 to April 24.

The FHA fair, a prominent regional platform for food and hospitality, attracted a diverse array of importers, distributors, and food service networks from across Asia. Brazil's pavilion hosted 13 companies, showcasing a range of products including animal proteins, coffee, açaí, beverages, and processed foods. The strategy aimed to create new export opportunities for Brazil through the development of higher value products which would attract Asian customers who seek industrial products and specialized ingredients.

Brazil established its primary business connection to Asia through Singapore which functioned as both a financial and logistical center that enabled trade with Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia and the Philippines. The economies of these countries currently show rising trends for imported food products and their citizens display increasing need for animal protein and processed food items.

The Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA) together with ApexBrasil played a vital role in organizing the animal protein sector's participation. ABPA president Ricardo Santin explained that the strong business results which included about 1000 commercial interactions demonstrate that international markets recognize both the quality and competitiveness of Brazilian products.

For the first time, the Brazilian beef industry also participated through the Brazilian Beef project, an initiative by the Brazilian Association of Beef Exporting Industries (Abiec) and ApexBrasil. Twelve Abiec-associated companies were present, reinforcing Singapore's importance as one of the top 20 buyers of Brazilian beef. The FHA 2026 event featured over 2,750 exhibitors from 115 countries and anticipated more than 80,000 visitors.

Beyond commercial success, the sector remains focused on technical innovation, with the ABPA Applied Research Merit program accepting scientific submissions until May 1st. This program aims to reward practical solutions that enhance the efficiency and sustainability of poultry and pork farming, aligning with the SIAVS 2026 event scheduled for August in São Paulo.
